To comply with import exchange variation laws, you need to set the parameter to indicate whether Import Exchange Variation exists in Stock.
When you select this field, it tells the system that, when an import is executed through IM3100, you need to enter another quotation date to update stock item values.
The entire import calculation, with expenses and taxes, will not be changed. Also the bill sent to accounts payable will not be changed.
Only the stock update is affected, with generation of a transaction for valuation of item with exchange rate difference between the date of ID and the date of stock transaction, whenever it is thus set in parameter RE0103.
Field Generate Import Exchange Variation in Stock was added to program Receipt Parameters Maintenance (RE0103). When you select this field, the system understands that another quotation date to update stock item values must be entered.
To program Stock Site Maintenance (CD0611), fields ledger account and cost center of Exchange Variation were added. You must only fill out these fields if parameter Generate Import Exchange Variation in Stock is selected in program Receipt Parameters Maintenance (RE0103). The account entered must be of Not Consumption.
This account is used in stock updates, to generate a transaction for item valuation with exchange rate difference between the date of ID and the date of stock transaction.
To program Nationalization/Incoming Docs Generation (IM3100), the field Exchange Variation Date was added to indicate the quotation date for updating stock items. It becomes required when parameter Generate Import Exchange Variation in Stock is active in program Receipt Parameters Maintenance (RE0103) and the document to be generated is an invoice. When enabled, the current date is suggested. The quotation related to the new field is printed in the checking report.
To program Incoming Documents Maintenance (RE3001), the field Exchg Var Quot was added, in which you can enter the exchange variation quotation for the document. This field is only displayed if parameter Generate Import Exchange Variation in Stock is active in the program Receipt Parameters Maintenance (RE0103) and the document is an import nationalization invoice. The value of this field is displayed in accordance with parameter settings in program Incoming Documents Generation/Nationalization (IM3100), which you may change. You cannot enter the value 0.
When you update an import document, a stock transaction is generated to book the exchange variation value, provided it meets a few rules:
Each document item has an exchange variation transaction, containing the difference between calculated values using Day Quotation and Exchange Variation Quotation. The transaction generated is of type inflow when the value calculated using Exchange Variation Quotation is greater than the value calculated with Day Quotation. Otherwise, the transaction is of type outflow. This transaction has no quantity, only value.
