In its routines, the Microsiga Protheus® System employs a few generic and specific configurations called parameters.

A parameter is a variable acting as a key element in running specific processes. Results may vary depending on parameter contents.

The Financials module uses several parameters, some of which are common to other system modules. When changed, their configurations remain valid in the other system modules.

Some parameters are merely generic configurations, such as peripherals (printers, etc.), opening dates, currency denominations, etc.
