Speaking of calculating topic grades for classes...

Topic grades for classes are calculated by taking into account the weight and the grade of the topic items.

Weights

You must define a weight for each topic item, if the weight is greater than zero. Weights greater than zero will be considered upon calculation of the topic grade, while weights equal to zero will not be taken into account in the final grade.

You must also define topic weights and all topics that have weights greater than zero will be considered upon calculation of the class grade.

Example

You created a topic called “General Knowledge”, defined its weight as 1, and added the following two topic items to it:

  • Basic Math”, whose weight is 1.
  • Advanced Math”, whose weight is 2.

In this case, the total weight of the topic items (sum of weights) is 1 + 2 = 3.

Assuming that the grade for the topic item “Basic Math” is 100.00, as it weighs 1, it will only be 33.33% of the total that can be obtained in the topic (100%).

Assuming that the grade for the topic item “Advanced Math” is 75.00, as it weighs 2, it will be 66.66% of the total that can be obtained in the topic (100%).

The formula we used is (total points of the topic)/ (sum of the weights of each topic item).

For this example: 100/ 3

Weight 1 (Basic math, which is equivalent to one-third of the total) = 33.33

Weight 2 (Advanced math, which is equivalent to two thirds of the total) = 66.66 (33.33 + 33.33).

As in the topic item “Basic math” the obtained grade was 100.00, the grade for this item is equivalent to 33.33.

As in the topic item “Advanced math” the obtained grade was 75.00, the grade for this item is equivalent to 49.99.

Therefore, the result is: 83.32.

If the weight of the topic item “Advanced math” were 3, for example, the formula would be:

Weight 1 = 25%

Weight 3 = 75%
