Speaking of blocks...

Blocks are sets of questions regarding a specific topic or topics, defined by a filter, which may be associated to evaluations and assessed separately, based on a certain evaluation weight.

Question blocks can be added, edited and deleted, and its versions can be managed.

The deletion option in the Topics window allows you to disregard specific questions. For example, by adding a topic to the block, all specific topic questions with a certain level of difficulty can be disregarded. Alternatively, all topic questions with subtopics can be added, while only disregarding one of the subtopics.

Example of calculation:

Assuming that an evaluation has multiple blocks, all weighing 1, and there are blocks that have only one question and others that have more questions:

  • If a block has two questions and the student gets both right, they get 100% of the block; if they get one question right, they get 50% of the block; and if they do not get either right, they get 0%.
  • If a block has only one question and the student gets it right, they get 100% of the block; if they get it wrong, they get 0% of the block.

Therefore, the student gets the percentage that is proportional to the number of questions that they get right in the block (considering the total number of questions in the block).

Therefore, there may be different grades for the students who got the same number of questions wrong in an evaluation, but questions in different blocks. If students got the same questions in the same blocks wrong, the grades would be the same. However, the number of right answers in an evaluation does not mean students get the same grade, since the ones who got the lower grade may have gotten the only question within a block wrong, and obtained 0% in the block, whereas others got 50% of a block wrong, because there were two questions in this block.

Example:
A block weighs 1: if there are 10 questions in this block, each question is worth 0.1. If that same block has only 2 questions, each question is worth 0.5.

Therefore, if a block weighs 1 and has only 1 question, it is worth 1 (100% of the block). That is why it is worth more than the questions in a block that has several questions.
