Products with traceability control can also have their potency by Lot/Lot + Sublot controlled. This control allows identifying the active compound potency characteristics for every lot of a product. This type of control is widely used by the pharmaceutical industries.

Procedures

Controlling lot potency:

• • Set field Potency Control to Yes.
  • For every a balance entry of the product that creates a new lot/lot + sublot and enter its potency.

When an existing lot/lot + sublot is informed in an operation, the potency is automatically informed by the System. Lot queries also display this information.

Example:

A pharmaceutical industry purchases from supplier A a kilogram of a given chemical compound. In this amount, only 50 percent (500 grams) of the lot are actually the compound required; the 500 grams left are impurities. Therefore, this lot potency is 50%.

On the other hand, supplier B uses another manufacturing process; thus, the lot potency of this very compound is 100%. In other words, when the industry requests supplier B a kilogram of this lot, it will receive exactly a kilogram of the chemical compound, without impurities.

With this information, the system calculates the amount to be requested, depending on the supplier, so as to obtain the amount needed.
