The purpose of this guide is to present fluig Connect features and the procedures to perform actions available for documents when using it.
About fluig Connect
The fluig Connect application for Windows allows you to access fluig documents on which you have permission, without having to access fluig. It has an objective, user-friendly interface that provides you with greater fluidity when managing documents.
We do not recommend the use of this tool to migrate large volumes of data.
Fluig Connect allows you to:
- download documents;
- update documents;
- post documents;
- delete documents;
- check in and check out documents;
- browse documents;
- check fluig notification;
- use the real-time conversations feature.
How to install, where to download and configure the initial settings?

Fluig Connect - Preferences
To view the Synchronize from the Connect preferences tab, you must be administrator user or configure it in fluig’s control panel.
Follow the steps below to define fluig Connect preferences:
You can adjust the settings configured for the first access later, on the Preferences screen. Simply access it from the top menu, Preferences option.
The General tab shows the user name and image configured in fluig. This tab also shows the fluig server address. To change the fluig server, click “End Session” and the server settings screen will be displayed, as explained in the “How to configure fluig access in fluig Connect” section.
In the General tab, optionally you can configure whether to perform fluig notifications on your desktop. To do so, simply select the “Display notifications” option.
Optionally, in the general tab, you may also configure the default fluig Connect language by clicking the Language combo.
Optionally, you may configure your local document management repository in the Proxy tab. By default, fluig Connect automatically creates a default directory named fluig Connect in the user’s personal directory.
To change it, simply click “Select” and choose a directory of your choice.
In the Proxy tab, you can also configure fluig Connect to start up along with the operating system. To do so, simply select the “Run fluig Connect during system start-up” option.
The Proxy tab features three proxy settings options:
1) No proxy: default option, used when proxy services are not required;
2) Automatic detection: option to use the operating system’s proxy settings. This option uses the Internet Explorer proxy settings;
3) Manual: option to manually edit proxy settings.
Click OK after adjusting the settings.
In the Synchronize tab, you can choose the directory on your computer where to save the documents, in the Location field. You can change the directory by using the Change button.
You can also choose the versioning from three options:
- New version: creates a new version of the document
- New review: creates a new review of the document
- Keep version: keeps the same version of the document
In addition to defining the time for checking the synchronization folder.
Using fluig Connect
Here are the features and actions available in each fluig Connect tab: Explore, Transfer and History.
Learning about the Explore tab
When opening the application (or after configuring the initial settings when first starting up the application), you can view the fluig Connect explorer, with its local and remote documents. Let’s learn about fluig Connect explorer features. At the top of the explorer is the actions menu, which contains options to be enabled based on the available actions:
Allows downloading fluig documents.
Allows checking out documents to edit them locally.
Allows checking in documents.
Allows synchronizing new documents with fluig, deleting local documents whose permissions were deleted and downloading documents with the latest versions.
Allows updating local and remote document trees.
Allows defining use preferences.
Local documents (i.e. documents downloaded from fluig by fluig Connect or new documents) are shown to the left of the explorer.
Documents with minimum permissions - i.e. documents you can at least view - are shown to the right of the explorer.
The explorer footer area shows additional information on documents or folders. Here is the information it provides:
- document description;
- document file type;
- synchronization status, i.e. whether it is updated according to fluig;
- document version;
- document author;
- document code;
- and document creation date.
Learning about the Transfers tab
Let’s learn about the features and functions in the fluig Connect Transfers tab.
On this screen you can view the progress of your downloads and uploads in a simple and intuitive way. Follow the steps below:
Fluig connect has viewing filters to help you view your downloads and uploads. The viewing filters are detailed below:
- Download: when selected, displays the documents being downloaded;
- Upload: when selected, displays the documents being uploaded;
- Check out: when selected, displays the documents that were checked out and are being downloaded;
- Check in: when selected, displays the documents that were checked in and are being uploaded;
- Completed: when checked, displays all the documents that were completely downloaded or uploaded.
In the top menu, you can cancel all downloads and uploads in progress by clicking the cancel button in the actions menu, which contains options to be enabled based on available actions.
Or you can cancel individual documents by clicking the cancel link next to the document progress bar.
In the top menu you can pause all downloads and uploads in progress by clicking the pause button in the actions menu, which contains options to be enabled based on available actions.
Or you can pause individual documents by clicking the pause link next to the document progress bar.
To resume any paused downloads, go to the top menu and click the Start button in the actions menu, which contains options to be enabled based on available actions.
Or you can resume downloading individual documents by clicking the Resume link next to the document progress bar.
Learning about the History tab
Let’s learn about the features and functions in the fluig Connect History tab. Follow the steps below:
On this screen, you can view the entire history of actions performed in fluig Connect in a simple, user-friendly interface. To update and view the list of actions, simply click the Update button.
Search filters make it easier to search for specific actions. You can filter by:
- Date from and Date to: allow filtering actions by a certain period of time;
- Number of days: allows filtering actions by a certain number of days;
- Filter and Column: allow filtering actions by a keyword in a certain column of the list.
On the list of action history, you can view the following information:
- Document Code: displays the document or folder code in fluig;
- File: displays the file description;
- Action: displays the action taken on the document;
- Action status: displays the status of the performed action, indicating whether it was completed or there were inconsistencies;
- Action code: displays the action code to facilitate the search process;
- Date: displays the date and time when the action was performed.
It is very simple and easy to download documents. There are two ways, which are listed below:
Select the document to be downloaded, right-click it and select “Download” from the context menu.

In order to easily view a downloaded document, it is marked with (L) for local, in the remote tree.

Select the document to be downloaded and drag it into the local tree. This option allows you to drag it into any directory available in the local tree.

Updating documents without checking them out
It is very simple and easy to update a document without checking it out.
Select the document to be updated, right-click it and select the “Send to fluig” option in the context menu.

Creating a new document
Here are the steps to create a new document using fluig Connect:
Go to the fluig Connect document directory on your computer.

Move the new document to a location within the fluig Connect document directory.

Select the target folder where to create the new document in the remote tree.

The new document is displayed in bold for easy identification. Select the new document, right-click it and select the “Send to fluig” option in the context menu.

The local tree document will no longer be displayed in bold and the new document in the remote tree will be identified with (L) indicating that it is also local.

Checking out documents is very easy. Here are the steps to check out documents using fluig Connect:
Select the document to be checked out, regardless of whether it is in the local or remote tree, right-click it and then select the Check out option in the context menu.

Add a comment describing the reason for the checkout and click “Check out”. Adding a commenting is optional.

A copy of the document will be created in the “My Documents → Check out” directory so that you can make your changes securely. Documents are marked with (C) for check out for easy identification.

After making all required changes to the document, it is very easy to check it in. Here are the steps to check in documents using fluig Connect:
Select the document to be checked in from the “My Documents → Check out” directory, right-click it and then select the “Check in” option from the context menu.

Add a comment (optional) describing all changes made to the document.

Select a document version control option.

Add a description for the new version or review (optional) and click “Send”. Voilà! The document will be updated in fluig.

You can delete a local document only, or a local and fluig document. Here are the steps to delete documents via fluig Connect:
Select the document, right-click it and select the “Delete → Delete Location” option from the context menu.

All actions available in the fluig Notification Center via the browser are also available in the fluig Connect Notification Center. Namely:
- Unread notification highlighted.
- Individually or collectively delete notification.
- Stop notifying actions of documents and others.
- Accept followers.
- Redirected to a post or comment when clicking the notification.
